The situation of the mother, who had been subjected to unnecessary blood transfusions which produced anti-E and anti-Jkᵇ and who developed a delayed hemolytic transfusion reaction due to anti-Jkᵇ, is discussed with respect to the abuse of, and the inadequacy of compatibility tests for, blood transfusions.
