Abstract

During the last eight years, 26 cases of sickle cell anemia have been seen in this hospital. Six patients manifested typical hand-foot syndrome and five others had similar episodes in their histories. The hand-foot syndrome may be one of the earliest signs of sickle cell disease in infancy and every patient with this condition should be considered as having sickle cell anemia until it is proven otherwise.
