Abstract
Nine Turkish and nine German patients with Type I diabetes are compared according to dietary habits, adherence to diet, and metabolic control. In comparing these children, we observed that the Turkish patients had encountered more difficulties in adhering to a diabetic dietary regimen which was probably due to the customs and educational differences existing between the two groups.
Although no significant statistical differences were found between the groups, it should be emphasized that education plays a major role in dietary control.
