Abstract

Height and weight measurements were obtained for 3600 children aged 6-11 years. The sample included only healthy children and represented a high socioeconomic level in the city of Trabzon. The results of the various groups were compared. In certain groups significant differences were found between children living in Trabzon and children living in Istanbul, Gemlik, the USA and Britain. These results suggest the importance of using local developmental norms for the evaluation of children.
