Abstract
1. Animal experiments: All the dogs had severe tonicclonic seizures after the intracysternal injection of T. A. T. and 0.9 % saline with phenol. Intracysternal injection of phenol free T. A. T. and T. I. G. did not produce complications.
2. Clinical Study: 49 infants with tetanus neonatorum were treated with intrathecal 250 units of T. I. G. and prednisolone mixture (case fatality rate, 20.5 %). 54 cases were treated with intrathecal 2500 units of T. A. T. and prednisolone mixture (case fatality rate 14.8 %). Other methods of treatment were the same in both groups. There were no significant differences in the treatment groups.
