Abstract
A case history of a fifteen-year-old boy with a severe obsessive-compulsive reaction is presented and the psychodynamics are formulated. The psychotherapy, which resulted in a surprisingly sudden improvement, is discussed. The value of active probing of a patient’s central conflicts and interpretations of them are emphasized.
