Pseudotumor cerebri (otitic hydrocephalus) is described and the author presents the case of a seven year old girl with the disease. Although considered relatively rare, reports reveal that it may be more common than originally believed. It is characterized by increased intracranial pressure, although the ventricular system and the cerebrospinal fluid composition remain normal. The etiology and pathogenesis of the condition are not generally known. Treatment is symptomatic and the prognosis is good in the majority of cases.
