Dorsal incision for kidney surgery

Abstract

In 1967 we started using the dorsal (Simon) incision for bilateral kidney stones. Between 1972 and 1984 we operated on 451 males and 321 females a total of 772 patients, for kidney and ureteral stones and pyeloplasties, using a dorsal incision. With this incision we did not encounter any postoperative incisional hernia, and the average hospital stay was 4 days.
